First Firearm Season in Mercer County was big success
MERCER COUNTY, Ill.--Hunters in Mercer County were very busy the weekend of November 16th. A total of 755 deer was taken in Mercer County during the first firearm season, up from last year’s total of 671. The first weekend ran November 16th through the 18th. The second and final weekend of firearm deer hunting in Illinois will be Thursday, November 29 until Sunday, December 2.
Knox County neighbor, Warren County, took in 559 deer. Statewide, hunters in Illinois harvested a preliminary total of 72,111 deer during the opening weekend.
