Local business busted by alcohol enforcement agents | Business
NEW WINDSOR, Ill.--An employee at a local business has been accused of selling alcoholic beverages to a minor.The charges came as a result of Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement in Mercer County. During the evening hours of Tuesday, February 5, 2013, a total of 9 locations were surveyed in the cities of Aledo, Matherville, New Windsor, Sherrard, and Viola, Illinois.
Of those businesses, New Windsor General Store, 514 E. Main, New Windsor, Illinois was involved in the sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor.
Store employee, Tonya M. Engesser, was arrested for Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor, a Class A misdemeanor. Engesser was released on a notice to appear in court.
The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. The Illinois State Police commends establishments which do not sell alcohol to minors. This project was funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
